Jane & Han

This is a photo of a Jane Austen inspired card. The quote on the card is, "You have bewitched me, body & soul," words spoken by Mr. Darcy in Austen's novel.

Throughout her life, Jane Austen wrote thousands of letters. I was recently doing some research for a presentation I am giving on April 13, and Jane’s letter writing is closely tied with her relationship with her sister, Cassandra. The two sisters wrote each other often, but Cassandra actually destroyed many of Jane’s letters because she wanted to maintain a traditional womanly image of Jane for their family’s sake.

I love letters. I love what communicating through a letter means. And on Friday, I get to talk about that to a group of women visiting Harding University's campus for The Jane Austen Experience. I'm looking forward to being vendor at the event and providing opportunities for someone to encourage another, but I'm most excited about sharing my passion for written encouragement, teaching some new friends how how to hand lettering a word or two, and connecting it all to the time period and life of Jane Austen.

I even made a few cards based on quotes from a few of her novels. If you're a Jane Austen fan, come by Cone Chapel at Harding University, and check out a some new cards and prints! Hope to see you there. SaveSaveSave
